About us

Where history, light, and craftsmanship meet.

Who are we?

Markus Ludwig

Born in Germany, raised with tools and precision. Markus is the one who makes the ideas real — from electrical wiring and LED engineering to metal work and stability.

Calm-handed where others panic, he turns chaos into functioning light. Without him, the lamp would still only exist in sketches.

“A thing is beautiful when it works well — that’s my rule.”

Killian Le Meur

Originally from France, Berlin-based by heart and accident. Designer, painter, loving history.

Killian imagined Glasbaustein not just as a lamp, but as a fragment of Berlin you can live with. He leads the design, visual identity, branding, prototyping, and storytelling of the project.

“I like objects that don’t pretend but tell a story”

From architectural historical pieces to light objects

What if we could give these abandoned glass stones a new function?

Not as construction materials, but as quiet sculptures — lamps that radiate warmth, memory, and urban poetry.

We began collecting original DDR glass blocks from demolition sites, flea markets, and the forgotten corners of old buildings. We cleaned them, studied how they bend light, and started experimenting on how to bring light to these blocks of history.

Made to be unique

Every lamp is unique, built from real materials that carry time and memory.

Made in Berlin

We design and assemble everything in Berlin — no mass production, no shortcuts.

Made with passion

Light can be a story — and objects can connect us to place, history, and emotion, this is what pushes up to produce them.
